The historic Bryan House was built in 1909 by William Jennings. After purchasing 240 acres of land from John Conway, the future president moved to Washington DC. He never returned to his hometown and the house was passed down to a farming family. Then, in 1989, it was restored and opened as a museum. Forman, who had founded the Vandergrift, Forman & Company, which later became part of the Standard Oil Company. He purchased the property in 1889 and the library moved in to the building on April 2.
